Tarot Tuesday!
Mar. 30th, 2021 03:32 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Here we go with another iteration of Tarot Tuesday. I didn’t quite manage to finish writing the essay on divination, and though that will be ready soon, we can go ahead and start calibrating the card-o-scope and check what the Astral Light is up to today, this week or the coming months. So if you have a question, bring it on.
I've been studying and practicing the Tarot for about 2 years now and having cast a few spreads for friends who found it helpful I thought I might make a deal with anyone that happens to read this.
Here is the deal, I will repost this on the last Tuesday of every month and will try to answer your query before the end of the month. Post a comment below requesting for a reading within the week of posting, depending on the number of comments and the situation I can either offer a lengthy reading or a three card reading. What I request back from you is some feedback about your situation and in case of some outcome what I got right and what I got wrong.
So, if you have a situation where you want to know what the Astral Light is up to, be it personal, general or on a broader scale, or want to know what the week or month ahead has in store for you, why then, you know what to do. I would encourage you to post it publicly below, as for others to get an idea of what I have to offer, to encourage discussion and what divination is about in general but if your situation is delicate post a comment marked NOT FOR POSTING explaining your situation and I'll consider it on a case by case basis.
That said, divination is like weather forecasting not a tablet of truth handed down from above, so take the advice I give you through the cards as such. Any unfortunate situation you get yourself into is entirely the responsibility of the querent!
If you wish to make a donation for the readings, though it is not required, you can do so through Paypal by clicking the pentacle.
Hello again :)
Date: 2021-03-31 08:41 am (UTC)I was very happy with the way your last reading gave a specific voice and card to Brigid. I have asked her to work with you to voice her guidance in this reading, too.
Please have a good look at the table when you are picking up the cards. I have also left you a wee something for yourself. :)
Re: Hello again :)
Date: 2021-03-31 07:56 pm (UTC)Yes I did receive your request (this one). It is just that I was on-call at work and started TT late on Tuesday and then I was going to bed very late, of which grip I just managed to escape.
I'll go to the divining room today and since you are the only one that has showed up you are the first in line, so worry not ;-)
Greetings!

April
Theme: Death. Perhaps the most feared of the cards of the Tarot but comically not the most daunting. One has to take care to not let this preconditioning of death affect our interpretation of a reading. Rachel Pollack says of this card that the death of something doesn't have to leave us with a corpse. All things die so others may live and it is rare the culture whose fear of death (in both its literal and metaphorical meanings) is as exacerbated and as irrational as ours. Death is merciful! In a way, there is no death either, there is only Life, Life and Life but it happens in cycles and as with every thing of cyclical nature it depends on its opposite to give rise to its meaning.
With that said, has anything regarding your clinic come to an end? Perhaps something got you into a death end? To me this 'ending' has a quality of stuckness and also one that could've been unexpected. If nothing has ended, it could be a fear of ending too. More on this on the next card.
Roadblocks: The World, Reversed . Here we have another end, but of a different kind. The World is the end of the journey of The Fool. She is in victory, surrounded by the Tetramorph having successfully transmuted her soul. This means a natural progression of things, as enlightenment is, and ending in the sense of fulfillment and achievement. Since it is reversed however, it means something is stuck and is not letting other things flow. Can you pin point what could this be? If something has ended indeed, as the first card indicated, then the feeling of stuckness could very well be just a direct consequence of that. However, there might be something about this death that you might not be digesting properly. Which takes me to...
Possibilities : The King of Wands, Reversed. Fire of Fire is the attribution usually given to this card. A king, a man of action, almost impatiently sitting in his throne with the blessing of the Salamanders --the name the elemental spirits of Fire have according to Levi. This king, reversed, is not happy. It is confined, not having an exhaust for all this fiery activity (not necessarily physical). Kings are required to rule so what can a King do when its up side down? In this state there is always the danger that our fire will find another way when it can't keep burning where we wanted to. This can have unwanted effects, as for example dropping responsibilities or resenting something that is dear to us. There is nothing that can be done about Death, all that can be done is turn to it and watch it as to try to catch a glimpse of what could be reborn in its place. If you feel overwhelmed by this, use that fire to unstuck the situation are reroute it instead of using up the fuel in fiery emotions.
May
Theme: Six of Wands, Reversed. This card reversed could tie in with the previous card in the sense of using up tough times in our favor. This card can mean recognition of others in our endeavors or in its reversed state walking despite the lack thereof. One interpretation from Pollack's book that I like very much is "The challenge becomes to work with the image right-side up in order to turn yourself around". There are also a lot of reversed cards in this reading and when that happens I usually take it as meaning that something needs to be turned as for things to flow again or to have a different perspective at things in order to see their real role in our situation. Keep this in mind as the events of the month unfold and take notes!
Roadblocks: Two of Swords, Reversed . This one also feels as a consequence of the theme of this month. In general, telling me that the roadblocks you will face will mostly be internal in this journey. How you take things will greatly change the outcome of the situations that you face so focus on what you make of things rather than what is happening outside. In itself, there is nothing blocking you per se, but in general all this seems like a test of your own mind and actions (Because of the swords and wands. This would fit neatly with the previous reversed King. Can you see how?) in order for you to gain the necessary temper to go forward. How? This card can mean lack of focus or confusion and overcoming that, turning yourself and doing the required effort to regain clarity is your challenge this month.
Possibilities : The Page of Wands. This is exciting. The Pages are students, eager beginners in something. It can come to you as exciting news, or this could be you. A young student of the Salamanders having grasped what the King had to learn while being held upside down. It is still a desert, you know that you are not following a popular path in the minds of the collective but this might be less of a burden if you make the right choices.
Lastly.
June
Theme: Five of Pentacles, Reversed.
This one has come up before and in this case I think it might mean something a little different specially when taken into account with the card the succeeds it. It is clear that the theme of this card is difficulties but in what sense? Who would you identify with in this scene? The people outside or the people inside? Whatever your answer is, it is relevant to understanding to hold the notion that neither side carries a complete view of things that happen in the world and you can't, at any given time, have all of them because the realty of the world can't be understood from any perspective that holds them all. Why do I mention this? Well...
Roadblocks: Two of Swords, Reversed .
This card I find fascinating, perhaps because I don't get it often but also because of its powerful imagery and just how neatly it meshes with the previous card. (This deck does that a lot). The ask here though, I can't do, you will need to, and that is the general theme of this reading (and its interpretation by consequence). Seriously, this reading is quite complex and it reflects on itself. I suggest you meditate on each card regarding yourself and the reading to assemble it piece by piece as the events that correspond start to unfold to draw out of it its full teaching.
The image on the picture is an effigy and as a symbol it means a withdrawal, perhaps into meditation since the higher energy centers of the body are being stimulated by swords pointing at them. (In practice though that might not be the best way to do it!). The reason why this is powerful with the previous card depends on whether you have realized its meaning in your situation. Whatever it is, this card is telling about potential roadblocks with being too withdrawn from the world, either too identified with your miseries or too closed out inside of your temple space. Neither side, after all, convey a true and complete representation of the World at the same time. Our brains are quite primitive in the big scheme of things, we need perspective and contrast in order to see, we can't see by itself, not at this stage of evolution at least. That is another theme in this reading, duality, not oppositional duality though, but rather the duality of a spinning Yin Yang. Back to action is also a meaning of this card reversed.
Possibilities : The Star, Reversed.
All this, across the months, might shake you a little bit and when we are shaken we want to run away. That is true for every human being, the wise one though uses that discomfort to its favor by revealing things about ourselves. The crassness of such opportunities are invaluable for the fiery seeker but it can be too much at times and we might loose hope or when something about ourselves is forced into the light it might be instinctive to pull back in a jolt. The Tarot is like this too. In my opinion it is optimistic but it throws things at you that are sharp and cut right were they needed. This card can also be of shyness or of a genuine need to hide something about yourself, whether that is the case or not would need to be determined by meditating and reflecting on the situation itself.
------
I didn't get much of what was in the table but I got the color yellow a couple of times and thought of citrus. Hmm... lemon pie? In any case, thank you!
By the way, the visualization trick seems to be working well. Both times the reading has been smooth and clear. There is a big number of variables that could be involved on that, your regular practice of the SoP among them, but I think it might be having some noticeable effect.
While I was reading something else though I thought if banishing before and after would be a good idea to eliminate the astral remnants in the room and on ourselves and thus not influence anything outside that particular reading. In his book on Atlantis (were I got the method from), JMG doesn't mention any magic but on a podcast I think or something on scrying ancient heroes and geniuses, he says that it is best to banish before and after the scrying session. Is it okay with you if I bring this up on the next Magic Monday and ask for his input? If it is an issue I will restrict the method only to practicing magicians to keep the querents, the room and the readings clean; besides that I don't think there would be any issue however.
Re: Hello again :)
Date: 2021-04-15 11:49 am (UTC)In the immediate sense of what I am wondering about for myself when I talk about external threats - I am wondering if there might be any new health policy or such that would close me down or make me go "underground" to keep doing what I do. In any case I think if something like this does arise I can bring that up for a future reading, maybe.
Of course this reading instead suggests internal work. Grrrr. ;)
In general my clinic is hopping and people are giving good feedback. One of the things that may have to die (literally) is the last remnants of income support I have been claiming (a tiny stipend for self-employed people working less than 24 hours in the week). Last year I would have been delighted to see 10 people in a week. Right now I am changing my clinic schedule to provide me with 30 instead of 25 weekly appts. And they are filling up rightly. The income support is looking like a mental dependancy (rather than a financial one) that I do not need to have any more. I think I will take this prompt and wind it up. Although the meanings here are probably going in other directions too.
Please feel free to ask what you like on MM. Including for this. It might be good to do the work inside of some banishings.
As to what I left on the table (I was mostly testing my own astral abilities) was this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bd/Saint_Brigid's_cross.jpg/1200px-Saint_Brigid's_cross.jpg and with it Brigid's blessings. Although the one that is on my altar is resting beside a vase in which I keep yellow flowers... ;)
Re: Hello again :)
Date: 2021-04-15 07:53 pm (UTC)Yes, please do go over it bit by bit as the events start to unfold. I made the connections carefully for you to find out what is being said. There is also a typo that is relevant but I won't give it away ;-). I think this might've been Brigid hand in a way. This reading has layers, much more than the last one which was pretty straight forward so if you can meditate on it by picking themes of the reading it will help a lot to unpack it. Also, I asked about the most important thing of the months ahead, so perhaps the fact that nothing really indicates the issue you mention could probably be a 'no'.
Internal work readings are the hardest ones to understand --I talk about that on my essay on divination particularly-- because by definition it's things we don't see about ourselves and thus it needs a third person perspective in order to look back at us in a way. They are also hard because we are subconsciously protecting our limitations and our mind comes up with ways of discarding or evading what needs to be seen. Many times trying to find something that would fit and settle it, but it has only been dodged in a clever way. Hopefully, the readings will help you jolt out of those pitfalls once you start encountering the events this reading talks about.
Hmm. Is it much money? I don't think it is that unless it is crucial but it very well could be, or an aspect of it. However, there are three Major Arcana in the reading and two on the first month so it seems unlikely that is what is ending, but again, it could be. One thing to consider is that it is the theme of the month, not something in particular necessarily but the mood that will permeate the whole month.
I can do a yourself-situation-outcome reading for that specific issue you have in mind. Geomancy would be much better suited to this, as it deals with the mundane and the material very well, the Tarot on the other hand is built upon the structure of the Trumps which relate to Spirit so it tends to be much more about ourselves in my experience. It will take me probably 6 months to start offering Geomancy readings as I need to get familiar with the oracle but we can see how it goes. Can you point me to some sources, if any, regarding the alt health-care in your country? If this is something particular for example.
Feel free to come back any time to revisit it or ask questions! I will probably change the dynamic of the readings, perhaps leaving it open for the whole month and reposting every once in a while or maybe doing it weekly but just for that day. What do you think about this?
Regarding Brigids Cross, that's beautiful! Holly items glow golden in the astral as they are charged with energy and certainly my image gets closer to golden than green-yellow, maybe that is why. The shape I didn't get at all, but that could be because shapes in the astral are tricky and require quite a bit of effort to make them sharp instead of fuzzy. But that is seriously cool though! I've heard of full magnificent temples being built in the astral. Apparently there are also libraries and stuff like that.
Re: Hello again :)
Date: 2021-04-18 06:17 am (UTC)So if you describe a little bit of what you want to know, or the reasons why that worries you, or anything really that connects to you asking the question I can ask the Tarot charged with that energy instead. It would also be interesting to see how that compares to the other reading.
All the best, as always
Augusto
Re: Hello again :)
Date: 2021-04-18 07:51 pm (UTC)Also, my period of spare leisure time, which I have really enjoyed over the past year (since I left my office job and its morning alarm, rush to get dressed and out the door routine, in March 2020) is fairly well ended, now that the clinic is getting busy, and filling up every single week day.
In a less emphatic way, the winter is fairly well ended, but (also) the fruitful planting opportunities that I am waiting for are not available yet, as the weather has remained rather poor. So, there is a certain amount of frustration here.
These are the things that are coming to mind, and I may keep the question before me for the next day or two before moving on to the next card. I shall remain alert for any other prompts that come to mind.

Date: 2021-04-15 08:52 am (UTC)It is already mid April so I will craft a two month spread for you. That way you can look back at the weeks just past for some clues and reference points as well as a look ahead. The way I have found useful for this readings is to first post my interpretation and then refine with you the details about it, should something need revision or if you have any questions.
Here is a picture of the spread:
And here you can find a hi-res version of the same image for your records.
The columns are the months and the first card is the theme of the month, the second one challenges or roadblocks of the month and the last one the possibilities of the month.
April
Theme : Two of Wands . This card depicts a choice, a fiery one, since fire is the element of wands and that also corresponds with actions and adventure. The man, a successful one, perhaps a merchant looks at the horizon with a globe in his hand. A master of his world wonders what else can it be out there, but he also knows adventure doesn't come without risks and those risks often come also at the beginning in the form of dropping other things in order to set sail. That we can see in the other wand that is anchored to the wall. Since I don't know much about you nor your general situation I ought to be vague, but, have you found yourself in a situation like this in the two weeks that have passed? Perhaps, a new job or a move? This in particular is not necessarily a choice out of need, since the man in the card is quite well-off, but one out of the thrill of doing it.
Challenges : The King of Wands, Reversed The challenges regarding the theme are pretty straight forward. The need for adventure can easily turn and adventurous young merchant to impatience, arrogance and obstinance which are qualities of the Ruler of Fire, when he is turned upside down and can't rule. Be careful with how you direct your fire, so to speak, specially because this seems like something you really want to do so the potential for it to turn against you is high and an upside king of fire usually reacts angrily by dismissing responsibilities or failing to understand the doubts, worries or fears of others that don't share the same stance.
Possibilities : Seven of Pentacles, Reversed
This one is a little bit tricky because it seems to go in a different direction than the others but it suggests that there will be a possibility of "getting back to work" so perhaps, if you manage to direct your actions and desire for something more and avoid the pitfalls of the difficulties of setting up an endeavor, an opportunity might open up. If you are indeed looking for a new job, or are looking to resume something that was left for a bit, it might be a good time to resume it. This last one is not very clear to me, so feel free to comment if it resonates with you, or not, along those lines since this card can have several meanings.
May
Theme : Five of Pentacles, Reversed . Are you married or on a similar relationship in terms of responsibilities? I ask because I see that all of the cards on this month have a polarity, as in, both having men and woman. If not, this could be something else but I get a sense of another person in here. If you are married or have children, this could be about providing with generosity. If that is completely off --though that'd leave me scratching my head about the next cards-- this could be about relying on yourself rather than on others.
Challenges : The King of Wands, Reversed . This card in its reversed state speaks about loosing harmony between polarities. Two things that used to be one, or were working together harmoniously rather, are coming apart. This could be based on something from the past or something recurring but that disharmony will be a challenge this month.
Possibilities : The Tower, Reversed . There exist the possibility of a muted change. The tower in the picture is destroyed, shaken to its foundation by thunder (fire). This speaks about our foundation whether it be personal or collective. However, in its reversed form it means that this destruction will not be complete or will not be let to run its full course. A destructus interruptus if you will. This, depending on the other cards and how it manifests in your life, can be a good or a bad thing.
All the best and let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

Date: 2021-04-15 12:05 pm (UTC)Thanks so much for the reading! And don't be hard on yourself, you're doing me a service and life can be hectic hectic.
As for the spreads, that's very interesting. Not that you would have known, but I recently broke up with my long term girlfriend of several years due to ongoing problems and incompatibilities and moved to a new apartment. With that relationship no longer present, I've been struggling with the emotional fallout and trying to focus my efforts on finances, seeing friends again, physical fitness and spiritual practices.
Your explanations and the cards themselves do seem to point out me further pushing down that path, with the kind of challenges that would be expected with that. I appreciate your work, seems highly accurate to me!
Does that information seem to coincide with your thoughts or does that give you any different spin on your interpretations?

Date: 2021-04-18 06:35 am (UTC)Yes, it does change things in the details but not in the general thrust of the reading. I will reply in more detail but for now I can tell that the first column looses a little bit of the fire in the king and the Seven of Pentancles now makes sense, instead of going in the opposite direction as I had mentioned.
It is not adventure that you are seeking either in the strict sense of that word, it is you just looking to expand your horizons now that you've had a strong change in your emotional life. You wanting to get to do things again or "resume" other aspects of your life is the Seven of Pentancles, Reversed but even though you want to do it, you don't "feel" it, perhaps it's a distraction.
The Tower, Reversed now makes more sense too. If I may give some advice, don't distract yourself from the swirl of emotions that emanate from a breakup and not only emotions, anything that comes out of that. To heal a wound you have to attend to it right? Otherwise it gets infected. See if you can allow yourself to feel those emotions fully and do not repress any, even if you think feeling those is wrong or inappropriate for you to feel or think. This is important in things like this because emotions are like a live missile, it is already on so the best you can do is to look at it while it's firing, otherwise you might end up blowing up your own camp! Journaling is a great way to deal with this as to let any repressed or unvoiced aspect of yourself speak, instead of playing behind the scenes in your subconscious.
