I friend of mine gave me a push to start posting out there in public what I write, not out of some skill in the art but of an urge of adventure. That motivates me in the right way for I tend to judge the quality of my output not the joy I get from it. So before I turn into an old grumpy man prematurely, here is the first of a set of posts that I intend to write about Mexican and more broadly perhaps Mesoamerican spirituality, shamanism and the scientist --yes, you read that right-- the scientist that has brought the field into the eyes and ears of the public whom now even has an award winning film by Ida Cuéllar that dramatizes his life and work: The Secret of Dr. Grinberg which you can watch for free on Vimeo.

Jacobo Grinberg-Zylberbaum is surrounded by mystery and controversy not only for the topics that he liked researching but because of the fact that he ended disappearing until this day without notice leaving everything behind him untouched. People around him claim wild hypotheses about what happened. From becoming enlightened and dropping the body and its manifestation in a rush of energy which wouldn't leave a trace behind to him being kidnapped by the CIA.

I don't intend to write much about the conspiracies surrounding him since I personally find them as speculative entertainment but not much more than that. What I intend to focus on in this series of posts is on the work regarding consciousness and the Mexican shamanst hat he developed while at the institute he founded at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM): The National Institute for the Study of Consciousness that was an offshoot of the Psychology department at the time. This I intend to explain and comment from the lens of occultism.

It's been exactly two weeks today since I started the first on a series of experiments regarding that elusive and mysterious force physicists used to pay attention to in the 19th century, before science was taken over by the materialist skeptics. They used to call it ether and older cultures call it Prana, Chi, etc.

First I want to address some suggestions and further thoughts that came up in the comments and during later ramblings while doing nothing. What I am starting to find about this experiment is that it will yield more questions than answers and one of the reasons for that is because water is an incredibly complex medium and we can see some of those properties chemically.

So lets talk a little bit about the chemistry of water before we proceed. One of the remarkable properties of water compared to other hydrides (some hydrogen compounds) is that it has a very high boiling point despite its small molecular weight. Here is a graph that compares it to other hydrides:

The reason for this can be measured in what is referred to as specific heat , which measures how much energy needs to be absorbed by the compound to increase in temperature. Water has a high specific heat and that is why it takes a long while for it to boil or to freeze even though the pot you heat it in changes very rapidly in temperature. This property of water enables for life to happen on Earth in a wide range of temperatures going from 0ºC to 100ºC at a standard pressure. The reason for this characteristic of water is that water molecules bind together through a strong type of bond called hydrogen bonds which take a lot of energy to be disrupted and thus making it harder for the molecules to jiggle faster through the input of energy in the form of heat, which is what heat does to molecules. Here is an image that illustrated hydrogen bonds in water:

All this is to say that water is complex and recalling all this properties of water I thought about what precautions I should take while preparing the water for this experiment. One of this issues was raised by [personal profile] wbj and that is that because of the impurities of tap water microwaving could create unique radiolytic products (URP's) that also effect the experiment. I haven't looked at what URPs are specifically nor to what amounts are they created when microwaving food so I didn't add that variable to my experiment but it is definitely worth experimenting and that could be easily done by using distilled water.

Now lets talk about the etheric properties of water. As occultist have known for a long while, the ether is affected by thoughts and emotions as well as the surrounding etheric fields. Also water's capacity to hold unto an etheric charge varies with temperature --the colder the water the more its capacity to hold it and that is why a cold shower makes you feel vitalized. An important point regarding waters etheric properties was raised by [personal profile] scotlyn and that is that my emotional state could add another variable to the experiment so she suggested that I do a double blind process by having one person prepare the water and have another person pour the water, which would be encoded but not described as to not affect the results. I think that is sensible to do and probably will do in the next iteration of this experiment. There have been apparently a lot of mad scientist that have explored the forbidden properties of water, so this is a rabbit hole I am not yet prepared to jump into and perhaps will do until I have developed my clairvoyant abilities enough to use them or have devices a radionic contraption to help the process.

Now, to the long awaited results.

Plant 1:
Water: Microwaved
Health: Not so green but still alive
Flowers: None

Plant 2:
Water: Consecrated
Health: Not so green but still alive
Flowers: None

Plant 3:
Water: Boiled in a pan
Health: Green and alive
Flowers: Yes

Plant 4:
Water: Regular
Health: Green and alive
Flowers: Yes

Notice something odd? I notice it too. Both plants which etheric patterns have been altered through the water they received (allegedly for the microwave) are withering as you can see on the close ups of the leaves and neither of them has flower not flower buds. I find this interesting, definitely not conclusive, but interesting. One thing that I am reminded of by the unexpected withering of the plant watered with consecrated water is that some plants do mesh well with our etheric patterns, mostly pine trees, but others don't and that is perhaps one of the reasons why those plants are dying. Perhaps small plants don't like their ether altered. Hmm. Further experimentation is needed. What do you think?

Before we commence delineating the first on a series of experiments in mad science a little preamble about what ether is I consider is necessary.

One thing that I have become immune to is the notion that all that exists in the Cosmos is cold dead matter and firing neurons that just happens to do this curious thing called being alive and conscious. Most societies that where not systematically stupefied at a planetary scale knew that there is much more than what meets the eye in the magnificent clockwork we all inhabit and can see with our bare eyes. What holds all this together could very well be called the Life-Force, in the full meaning of that compound word.

That is, you and me, your garden plants, the radiating sun that keeps everything alive and in place has a subtler body that is filled with a type of energy that pervades the whole universe. Some cultures that are old enough to not have forgotten about it call it by different names, we all know how it goes, —ki, chi, prana, ruach etc. are just some examples; some epic fantasy calls it Voor in the case of tentacled novels and The Force in the case of outer space samurais, as well as orgone in the lab of ill-fated groundbreaking physicians.

These cultures developed very clever ways to work with the Life-Force in order to progress spiritually; maintain health and cure various diseases; bless the land and make it specially apt for things like agriculture as the megalithic structures did; give an extraordinary kick and predict your opponents moves before he made them as some asian martial arts do; be sitting in the middle of a snowstorm and still have vapor coming out of you as Tibetan Yogis often display; consecrate powerful devices and entire cities for self transformation like lingas of the yogis and the city of Kashi; influence other peoples minds for good or for ill; create imaginary temples that are more real than stone and wood; read funny looking cards in order to see what the universe is up to and many, many other examples. The life-force is what binds everything together too and what enables us to do astonishing things we are not capable to do otherwise if we know how to sense it, direct it and how to use it .

Before anyone jumps out and says that I am just riffing off what somebody else is saying from those times where people where superstitious enough to believe in those things I should mention that I work with the Life-Force everyday in the form a simple yet powerful technique that generates vast amounts of this energy to energize and heal myself as well as using ceremonial magic to use the force of the powers behind the elements to keep my etheric and astral bodies clean in the form of a banishing ritual. Yes, I can feel those forces moving around me in specific patterns and yes, I have put them to use. For example in one case I used it for reducing the inflammation and crippling pain from my right ear from being tight-shut swollen to be completely open so that a doctor could pour anti-biotic drops inside. I was astonished that it worked so wonderfully, it only took 30 minutes of deep breathing holding a specific mudra for that. When I went back for my check-up and commented it do the doctor I just got a light-years stare and a dismissive comment followed by an overpriced bill.

One other and rather much more dramatic example is a process I went through were I was enveloped in a very thick etheric shroud that took over me so that I could experience a magnificent thing —the relationship of our breath rate with the rotation of the Earth. This shroud took over me and my beating heart —a mean this quite literally, as in my heart rate changed— and for a few seconds my heartbeat and that of the Earth, so to speak, were in perfect sync. Yes, I was astonished too.

This this stuff is real. That is one of the reasons why I am writing this post, our society is convinced such things can’t happen even when confronted with compelling or at least intriguing evidence in front of them and when anybody suggests otherwise they are condemned and ridiculed. That is okay, such things have always happened with breakthroughs. The establishment resists and Science moves on despite of that. Of course science (without capital S!) today is much more corrupted than it has always been, I would even dare to say it doesn’t even deserve to hold that name because Science is about discovering new things and questioning your suppositions not about rehashing old notions by creating more and more techno-crap and catering to the needs of the industry. Alexandre Grothendieck, the famous french madcap mathematician that revolutionized Algebraic Geometry, saw this coming (as well as the impeding fall of civilization as we know it) and quit mathematics for good with a fiery letter in order to pursue mysticism and the dream world, but more on this on a later post about Mathematics and Occultism.

One of my long-term goals as an occultist is to further develop what many brilliant men and woman through the ages have discovered and developed so that we can start working with it again openly, as the useless and invasive end of our industrial technology starts to fail. The East still preserves several methods to do this and here in the West we have started to do some really interesting things with it in the past centuries, as JMG has started to delineate in his series of posts about radionics. So, as the Long Descent starts accelerating and more people become open to alternative methods I believe this technology can start flourishing again, if we do the preliminary work before it becomes out of reach. And this, though somewhat silly experiment, is my first step venturing in such Etheric Technologies.

With all that said, lets look at a basic experiment by using a home microwave. I was astonished the other day when I saw that a little girl from Sussex did a very basic experiment were she would microwave water and use it once it cooled down to water a plant while watering another one with regular water which was boiled. Her results were dramatic, the other plant died. I saw some other replications on the internet with various results so I decided to give it a go myself. My hypotheses is that microwave technology for heating food, you know the thing that maintains you alive, is really stupid. More seriously however, I think that putting something alive inside a faraday cage and zapping it with high power energy disrupts the subtle etheric patterns that surrounds everything alive and only leaves the connective tissue behind. Isn’t that exactly what the materialist want? A world with only matter and their gizmos? No surprise they came up with this stuff. (It is useful for destroying the bacteria of a stinky dishwashing sponge however making it usable again.)

Anyway. I have sprouted four cantaloupes at the same time, all coming from the same fruit, so their genetic material is similar —they have been for about a month in the same place— and will water them with four types of water. The first one will be microwaved water up to the point of boiling; the second will be heated water in a pan, that is, within the infrared section of the electromagnetic spectrum, as well to the point of ebullition; the third will be water consecrated by myself using my own prana through a basic process and the fourth one will be regular water. So, let’s see how it goes. It is possible by the way that this will produce absolutely nothing so don’t keep your expectations high, but this is one of the benefits of mad science, we can afford to do it messily and we don’t have to twist things to be right in order to receive grant money. A hypothesis being wrong is as valuable in Science as it is a hypothesis being right, the point is to explore.

Here is a picture of our brave specimens in day 1 of the experiment (the flowering cantaloupe from behind is not part of this):

And here are detailed views of each of them:

Plant 1:
Water: Microwaved
Health: Green and alive
Flowers: None

Plant 2:
Water: Consecrated
Health: Green and alive
Flowers: None

Plant 3:
Water: Boiled in a pan
Health: Green and alive
Flowers: None but with some buds

Plant 4:

And here is a picture of my assistant cat, whispering an incantation for the success of the experiment:
