We can go ahead and start calibrating the card-o-scope and check what the Astral Light is up to today, this week or the coming months. So if you have a question, bring it on.
I've been studying and practicing the Tarot for about 2 years now and having cast a few spreads for friends who found it helpful I thought I might make a deal with anyone that happens to read this.
Here is the deal, I will repost this on the last Tuesday of every month and will try to answer your query before the end of the month. Post a comment below requesting for a reading within the week of posting, depending on the number of comments and the situation I can either offer a lengthy reading or a three card reading. What I request back from you is some feedback about your situation and in case of some outcome what I got right and what I got wrong.
So, if you have a situation where you want to know what the Astral Light is up to, be it personal, general or on a broader scale like political events, or want to know what the week or month ahead has in store for you, why then, you know what to do. I would encourage you to post it publicly below, as for others to get an idea of what I have to offer, to encourage discussion and show what divination is about in general but if your situation is delicate post a comment marked NOT FOR POSTING explaining your situation and I'll consider it on a case by case basis.
That said, divination is like weather forecasting not a tablet of truth handed down from above, so take the advice I give you through the cards as such. The conditions that divination taps into are also in constant flux, the same as atmospheric pressure and the Moon. Any unfortunate situation you get yourself into is entirely the responsibility of the querent!

As such, I think I would appreciate an outside and more experienced perspective, but I don't have a specific situation to ask, so if it's fair game, I might ask "what do I most need to know about for the next day/week/month (whichever length is appropriate for you)?"
Potentially relevant life details: I'm married with an almost-three year old daughter. I live in Houston, and I teach business communication at a university. I am working my way through the Druid Magic Handbook and I have a daily prayer practice to Anglo-Saxon deities and my ancestors (with some Norse supplements).

Perhaps, if there are any ongoing situations in your life besides teaching, family situations and your pursuit of magic might be useful, but other than that, you are set. Before we proceed though, since this is a general reading a few question to calibrate. Is there something on which you are waiting on at work? Date: 2021-08-31 03:31 am (UTC)I wonder if you might cast a reading to help me figure out what's at play and what I can do to tune in more clearly to the (for lack of a better word) Divine. I pray, do divination, am learning to concentrate for better meditation - and mostly it feels like one-sided communication. I do have phases where my prayers are met with accurate and appropriate divinations but then phases when it's nearly impossible to see how the divination means anything relevant. There's generally no other sense of anyone being on the other end of the "line."
Sometimes I feel "thick as a brick"(*) or like I'm in spiritual preschool. It's possible, but if there's something I'm overlooking/neglecting, I wouldn't mind knowing so I can remedy it.
(*) the phrase occurred to me the other day actually out of gratitude that I'm not so sensitive as to hear voices trying to get me to get a certain vaccine. In general, though, I wouldn't mind being able to sense something from higher aspects of the universe.

What do you mean with the relationship between prayer and divination and them being met by accurate readings? To me divination and prayer are totally different things so I must be missing something here.
Being sensitive can be a blessing, I'm very sensitive and sometimes it can be overwhelming, the trick is to know how to open up and close down your senses and meditation will give you that. Regarding voices through prayer or through vaccination encouragement, I don't hear voices I watch thoughts and once you've raised enough attention in you that you can clearly distinguish when you produce a thought or when you are picking it up from the astral commons or from divinity that is how you can tell for sure. To get that skill, meditation is the way! Lots and lots of time in meditation will give you that. Specially with a relaxed mind, meditation is not forceful it is like putting your hand down into the river bank and letting slip all other things that you don't want to get the pebble you want. That said, let me cast a reading for you to see if there is something specific going on.

The first thing that immediately comes up is that you drew all cards reversed. When this happens this is a strong sign that energies are having issues expressing themselves, that something is blocked or that we are insisting for things to go in a particular way and we refuse to let them happen. It's a sign of resistance, of lack of listening.
Center, situation The Five of Wands, reversed.:
This card shows five people fighting with sticks, stuck in motion. However, they don't seem to be fighting violently bur rather out of sport. Reversed however it could mean that in your situation you are not doing your devotions out of enjoyment but because you want to get something out of it. You are forcing it, rather then letting it happen smoothly. Remember that ultimately, prayer is about you becoming like the object of your devotions not about telling it things or even asking questions, its about being open so that you can be shown.
Left, internal influences you are not aware of The King of Swords, Reversed :
The King of Wands is an authoritative figure, however, again, since it is reversed it means that you have a great mind perhaps too great and it is not serving you for your purposes. Perhaps you are intellectualizing too much and trying to get control of the process. Praying and divination are not about telling or doing things, not even about you making the connections, it's about listening and paying utmost attention so that you can see the strings, not about you connecting the dots.
External influences you are aware of, The King of Pentacles, Reversed:
Another ruler that is on its head. See how he looks at the pentacle? You are dissatisfied with the process, maybe you are asking too much about it and this is not leaving room for the unexpected to happen. Since this is in external (or conscious) influences, this could mean that something in your life has made you shift from the material to the spiritual but also consider the first point. If someone is dissatisfied by you, would you feel encouraged to make a better effort? Perhaps your oracle doesn't feel motivated to talk to you because of this and deities not particularly encouraged to make something happen if you are not open.
What is needed for resolution The Nine of Pentacles, Reversed:
This card in particular could mean lack of discipline, of being disappointed with oneself or having low regard for ones own abilities. Don't be too hard on yourself, this is something that you need to work for not something that is natural to most people on our day and age. Take your time, to steady your mind, and relax yourself. Just like the contents of a sack of flour pour and loose its shape once it is turn upside down you shall empty your conceptions about these things without much effort or tension, so that it can be filled with something else.
Lastly, the outcome The 8 of Swords, Reversed:
This one is quite clear isn't it? This one is about freedom. If you manage to do what is talked about in the previous card, and the rest generally, you will free yourself from a situation that is not about being trapped by someone or something but about untangling oneself in a situation we might feel restricted because we are walking blindly among things that we might be either scared about or are unknown. However, it's not about fixing the outside but about observing what one might be doing wrong.

Okay, so generally this doesn't seem like a bad reading to me, nothing bleak, however there seems to be some issue with you identifying possible opportunities and your attitude in general towards the situation, perhaps about commitment. Let's go a little deeper into the situation.
The positions of the cards are: Center, the situation or issue; left internal influences you are not aware of; right, external influences you are aware of; bottom, what is needed for resolution and lastly on top, the outcome or the understanding. The one on the far right is a clarifying card.
Center, the situation The Four of Cups:
In this case, this is your situation about looking for a job. The first thing that struck me is that there is no presence of the Pentacles, which can signify work or money but there are a few Cups, which regard to our emotions. In this card we see a man with three cups on the ground and a fourth cup appearing of from a cloud; he is with his arms crossed. I think this describes the situation you've described well. In this case, since there are other cards that indicate a need for commitment, I am going to suggest that this card means indecision about the opportunities you already have or have tried and new ones that might be showing up.
Left, internal influences you are not aware Two of Cups, Reversed:
This card usually means a relationship or working together; union. However, since this is work related it suggests to me that there is something within you that is not really wanting to commit to something, there might be a disunity regarding the things you want to do and the thing you'd like to do.
Right, external influences you are aware 9 of Swords:
It seems that the situation is taking a toll on you, perhaps inducing depression, anxiety or taking away your sleep. However, there are things that you are not seeing that would make your experience of the situation less stressful.
Bottom, what is needed from you The four of Wands:
This is a very cheerful card. In this case, I am going to take it to meaning commitment as a union or a marriage. I say this because of the card on the left which is the internal influences you are not aware. For you to resolve your situation you are going to need to commit to something and push for a while with it instead of diffusing your efforts with different things. This however, and this is important, requires a degree of joy, of going outside the cold walls of our personal castles. Perhaps committing to something you are passionate about or that will give you enough enthusiasm to commit joyfully to it.
Top, the understanding Temperance:
Another reference to commitment, and it this case it will be the value of it. Commitment to a new life. This is also a reference to balance and a calmed mind. It seems to me that if you do commit to something and focus your efforts with that, with clarity and balance of your creative energies you will succeed in your search for a job or your prospects for work.
Clarification The Sun, Reversed:
To me this card is clarifying that you are not seeing that this might be a good thing for you. Maybe you didn't like your past job and are being offered a chance to redirect your life in something more positive. The Sun card is rarely negative, because no matter what the Sun is always shinning. It more often means that we are failing to see it, or that there could be some clouds covering it, but it is still there.
So generally, the cards seem to indicate that what you need is to shake yourself up --if this is keeping you down as the swords card suggests-- and see the boon of your situation, as stressful as it might be. Take some time to reflect upon your choices but be weary of veering off too strongly from the areas you are comfortable or good at and once you've taken a good hard look at them, commit to it and push in that direction. As a result of this, you will find yourself learning a bit about the worth of commitment and the balance that it can bring to use once are creative forces are put to good use.

Reading the Tarot is most of the time about figuring out what the cards are trying to say specifically, following the singposts of the traditional meaning of the cards.

Date: 2021-08-31 11:12 am (UTC)My spiritual life has been stuck in a rut for a long time now, my efforts to kick it back into gear have never gotten off the ground. In particular my ability to hear the gods, something I could do once, has stopped working altogether. It's an irritating reverse of the situation I found myself in well over a decade ago, having had a strong spiritual experience and wanting to build my life in that direction but unable to find any instructions in how to do so; now I have the instructions but no direction to go in anymore. I'm about ninety six percent sure the god I started out praying to has long since exited stage left, welding the door shut behind him; I thought for a long time there was someone in particular there, waiting for me to take notice, but I could never figure it out, and I haven't even been getting that lately.
Any advice I can get about breaking out of this stalemate would be deeply appreciated.

The school has just announced mandatory Covid vaccines for everyone who wants to be on their campus; we will briefly have the option to get tested when we go to campus instead of taking the vaccine, but that goes away in October, unless we get an exemption, and they still haven't figured out what the process for getting an exemption will look like. The Ontario government also may or may not be implementing vaccine passports; it's saying it won't, but the media is saying it's coming, and thus far the track record is that the government usually caves to the media after a few weeks. How will my decision to refuse to get vaccinated play out, especially with regards to the electrical program?
2) How will whatever outcome occurs for the upcoming Canadian election effect those of us living in Ottawa?

(In addition to my doctor's suggested treatment, I am also supplementing with some vitamins and cell salts.)
Would you be able to do a reading about if I am on the right track with my treatment? (I am not asking for medical advice, just curious if I can realistically expect to be back to full strength within two months.)

Date: 2021-08-31 11:08 pm (UTC)I'm a Canadian citizen, living in Canada, and watching the ongoing shift to totalitarianism here, and desperately seeking a way out. I've just found out that I am eligible for American citizenship, given one of my parents is American. There's also a well respected college in the US that I can apply for in an area of the country I feel very strongly drawn to, with applications to start January due in a month for American citizens. I missed the international application, but if I get an American citizenship, I'd be able to apply for financial aid which should be enough to let me land on my feet and figure out what to do and where to go from there.
What will happen if I pursue this possibility?

However, we are getting on in years (well I am, she is young and beautiful) and we would be very open to being bought out by one of our clients. We work with some companies who could scoop us up and makes us an internal team with little effort and (to them) little cost.
Our hope would be that we would get a reasonable vestment time table (3-5 years) and then we would be free to retire.
I would ask the Tarot: What is the future for our business?
