I'm currently working on the application for the college, since it's more time sensitive; but will begin the process to get an American citizenship this weekend when I next see my parents.

I'm fully expecting this to turn into a fight, since my parents hate the country, but you can't prove citizenship without getting a form filled out by your American parent.
